Vheneka is an Aotearoa-based DJ whose sound stretches across oceans, carrying rhythms, stories and movement from across the Afro diaspora to dancefloors far from where they first began. Emerging in 2025, her sets feel less like genre exercises and more like living conversations, weaving together Gqom, Amapiano, Baile Funk, Raga, UK Funky and bass-heavy sounds with an instinctive sense of flow and curiosity.

Inspired by artists such as Miro, State OFFF, GoldMax and Hagan, Vheneka approaches music with both confidence and playfulness, unafraid to follow a feeling wherever it leads. The result is a sound that feels rooted yet restless, familiar yet constantly unfolding.

One of our favourite things about Fale FM is that sometimes the right people simply find their way to the door. Vheneka, also known as Thandi, submitted her mix through the Fale FM website from Aotearoa, and from the first listen there was something undeniably special about it. We gave only a loose brief, but she seemed to understand the spirit of it immediately. No overthinking, no forcing an idea into place. Just bold selections, authentic storytelling and a natural confidence that made the mix feel entirely her own.

This mix is a selection-driven, danceable journey that speaks to the diaspora. Stepping away from the intensity of the club, Vheneka allows the tracks room to breathe, highlighting the beauty, production and craftsmanship behind the sounds she loves most. The result is something immersive and deeply intentional, where every rhythm, bassline and percussion pattern has space to tell its story.
