Bby J is the founder of Fale FM, a Samoan singer-songwriter, curator, and community builder from Aotearoa (New Zealand), now based in Tkaron:to (Toronto), Canada.

As both an artist and curator, Bby J is guided by feeling. Her work lives in atmosphere, intuition, and the belief that music is as much about discovery as it is about creation. Through her own artistry, she explores sounds that are sensual, nostalgic, and quietly magnetic. Through Fale FM, she creates space for emerging artists, underground sounds, and the communities that form around them. Whether uncovering a hidden gem from the other side of the world or championing a local artist finding their voice, her approach remains the same: curious, open-hearted, and always listening for what lies just beyond the horizon.

Each summer, that curiosity calls her elsewhere.

For four weeks, while the founder wanders in search of inspiration, collecting stories, chasing frequencies, and following the trails that only music seems to reveal, the keys to Fale FM are handed to VELMA, the station's Summer Resident.

Born and bred in West London and now rooted in Glasgow's Southside, VELMA is a DJ, curator, playlist builder, and lifelong music obsessive with an instinct for uncovering hidden treasures. She is drawn to the overlooked, the emerging, and the unexpected, connecting sounds across genres with a collector's ear and a storyteller's touch. Her selections are thoughtful yet playful, built on the belief that great music should surprise you, move you, and occasionally change your mind.

Broadcasting from Glasgow HQ, VELMA's four-week residency brings her unique perspective to the Fale FM airwaves. Across the summer, she'll share the chunes she's fallen in love with, spotlight artists deserving of wider attention, champion her own creative journey, and continue her ongoing mission to prove that the future of pop is unmistakably electronic.

Together, Bby J and VELMA embody the spirit of Fale FM: a platform shaped by curiosity, connection, and the endless pursuit of sounds worth sharing.
